Obituary: Jane (SANDER) Hanson

On 18 Apr 1930, only a week after the 1930 Census above, Jane passed away. She was buried beside her husband in the family plot in the East Madison (Vold) Cemetery.

Mrs. Chas. Hanson Dies

Word was received here by friends of the death of Mrs. Chas. Hanson, a long time resident of Winneshiek Co., who passed away at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Chas. Falck of Decorah, Friday morning. Funeral services were held at the United Lutheran church of Decorah at 2:30 Monday afternoon and burial was made in the Volds cemetery.

Mrs. Hanson, nee Jane Sander, was born in Brandvold, Soler, Norway about eighty-two years ago and at the age of five years she came to this country with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Brede Sander. Mrs. Hanson has lived here in Winneshiek County since then except for the time she spent in Canada and South Dakota with her children since the death of her husband. For several years she and her husband, C. M. Hanson lived on the farm now occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Ludwig, about three miles north of Ridgeway and in the Rheinhart residence of this place.

Mrs. Hanson is survived by the following children: Ben and Oscar Hanson of Sisseton, S. D., Mrs. O. P. (Clara) Hovey of Decorah, Mrs. Peter (Minnie) Hovey of Orleans, Mrs. Hans (Hannah) Sollid of Kyel, Canada. Two daughters preceded her in death, Mrs. L. M. (Nettie) Buttner and Clara, who died in infancy.
