Together Ellen and Ole Bakke had nine children that lived into adulthood: Isabella Antoinette, Clara Gunhilde, Erick Arthur, Elmer Orlando Benjamin, Philip Henry, Ruth Elizabeth, Vernon Lorenzo, Esther Lillian, and Ole Ernest.

By 1930 Ellen was living with her son Orlando, his wife Emma, and her daughter, Lillian. Orlando presumably had taken over the operation of the family farm.

Obituary and Gravestone: Ellen (SANDER) Bakke

Ellen died on 26 May 1936. Her obituary appeared in both the Decorah Posten and the Decorah Journal. Unfortunately there is not a translation of the Posten obituary.

Ellen was buried in the Washington Prairie Lutheran Cemetery beside her husband.
