Jane SANDER was born 10 Nov 1847 in Grue, Hedmark, NOR and was baptized on 23 Jan 1848. The Grue parish records list her as Gunne Bredesdtr.

Jane's mother was Anne Gudmundsdtr. We know that Anne was born on 5 Aug 1821, the daughter of Gudmund Hansen and Anne Arnesdtr and that Anne and Brede were not married. Brede would marry Karen Huseby on 6 Apr 1848, only a few short months after Jane was born.

The SANDER family tradition was that Jane left her mother to go with Brede, Karen, and her half-brothers Brede Jr. and Anton, in order to have a chance at a better life in America.
